Pandora's Lab: Seven Stories of Science

On my recent vacation, I finished Pandora's Lab by Paul A. Offit M.D. covering seven stories about medical innovations and their downfalls. He covered the history of pain meds including the current opioid pandemic. He touches upon how there is such a thing of "Too Much of a Good Thing" but also "The Dose Makes the Poison" comparing history of vitamins and DDT.

Being broken up and covering different events as seperate but somewhat related stories, Dr. Paul kept me interested. With Autism, vaccines, GMOs, and mental health being discussed, it seems quite relevant to current events.

The Martian: A Novel

One of my all-time favorite books is The Martian: A Novel by Andy Weir. It was my first book in adulthood that I couldn't put done. Being an Engineer, I loved the troubleshooting and science behind Mark Watney, the stranded astronaut, had to do to stay alive and get recused.

There is a movie of the same name that Matt Damon stars in. It can be rented or bought through Amazon Prime Video here. The movie is just as good as the book. The issues faced and the resulting solutions are well described and detailed in the book, but seemed to be eased over through the production of the summer 2015 blockbuster.
